Touchmarked at bottom of poll with a "WAS"
These Axe's are very authentic for the early 1800's "Mountain Man Era".Originally made extensively in the Northwest for trade with natives. The construction is wrought iron with a high carbon steel bit, forge welded in a coal forge just as it was in that time period by the British circa 1826-1860

Colonial Cable Trade Axe, Mid 1700's style made in the hand forged and hand welded techniques
used in that period, except the steel used is logging cable forged into a solid bar for the axe material. 6" from bit to poll, 2-3/4" bit point to point, 1lb 2.7oz. Hafted with Black Walnut 17.5" L. Custom made and fitted Sheath included.
